Alexander J. Tymchuk Award for Excellence

The Association for Successful Parenting: Enhancing the lives of families when parents have learning difficulties is honored to solicit nominees for the 2015 Alexander J. Tymchuk Award for Excellence For Leaders and Emerging Leaders in the field of working with parents with learning difficulties.

Dr. Tymchuk, Emeritus Professor of Psychiatry, UCLA School of Medicine and a pioneer in the field of supporting parents with intellectual disabilities honors individuals who have demonstrated excellence in their work in supporting parents with intellectual disabilities and other learning difficulties.

The Selected Nominee will be given free registration to the conference and are expected to share their work, research or vision at the TASP annual meeting in Memphis, Tennessee on October 12-13, 2015.

Nomination Deadline: 
August 31, 2015. Recipients will be notified shortly thereafter to allow for travel plans.

    Works in the field in a professional capacity (5 years for Leaders); or as a student, advocate, volunteer (Emerging Leader) – no time requirement needed for Emerging Leader

    Participates in networking and educational opportunities for parents and or practitioners

    Promotes advocacy, on-going system change and best practices in the area of parenting by persons with intellectual disabilities and other learning difficulties

    Committed to increasing the viability and capacity of all families

    Any other qualifications you feel this individual has that would qualify for the award
